I'm pondering of idea testing number of various flavors of shorting plugs. If you have particular idea or subject - please comment.
Primary test vehicle would be HP/Agilent/Keysight 34420A NVM, but I also have far more capable EM A10 boxes and Keithley 1801/2002 combo.
I'll start with factory-made Agilent 4-wire short (P/N 34103A) and Agilent 4-wire cable for 34420A (P/N 34102A) as this is the kit that most of you have.
I had this idea. I have some spare female sockets similar to those that are used on the 34420A.
Get two lengths of wire that is the right diameter and have quality insulation, shape and smooth the ends to make pins, bend them and insert into a female fixture. Once happy with how they fit, place the wire end into a small cap that's been prefilled with epoxy resin. Once it sets, you should have a plug cap for shorting that is just two solid wires. The cost to produce these would be minor.
Maybe I'll make up one to demonstrate the idea. I need to see what wire I have on hand.

I suppose two of the contacts are pins and the other two sockets. My idea might be too difficult to create. I'll have to think about it some more.
